Founded in 1880, Taotaoju Restaurant has a long history of 121 years. Kang You Wei, a famous scholar of late Qing Dynasty, inscribed the gold-lettered signboard of Tao Tao Ju. Taotaoju Restaurant is famous in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Southeast Asia for its unique architectural style, retired and quiet settings, traditional Cantonese food and high-quality service.

In 1997, Taotaoju Restaurant was firstly named as one of national special grade restaurants by MOFTEC. In 2000, a huge sum of money was put into the rebuilding of the restaurant. The restaurant acquired a completely new outlook. Everyday the restaurant is full of guest and has a scene of bustle and excitement.
