Pan
Xi Restaurant, the biggest garden restaurant in China,
is located in the west of Guangzhou city, the side of
Li Wan Lake. In 1947, a Cantonese named Li Wen Lun founded
Pan Xi Restaurant here. In 1960, designed by famous architect
Mo Bo Zhi, Pan Xi Restaurant became the biggest garden
restaurant of the country.
Pan Xi Garden, a combination of the garden in the regions
south of the Yangtze River and decoration art of Qing
Dynasty, covers an area of 12,000 square meters and its
seating capacity is almost 2000. About 40 private rooms
are all designed in the style of pavilions, terraces and
open halls. Some of them are distributed in the long corridor
close to the lake, some are set off by ancient banyans
and willows, and some towers aloft on the rockwork. The
splendid garden was praised as the symphonic poem of eastern
architecture.
Pan Xi Restaurant once received Kohl, the former president
of Germany, Samaranch, chairman of International Olympic
Committee, Mr. Heath, the former prime minister of UK,
Waldheim, the former secretary general of UN, Kissinger,
Chen Xiang Mei, Han Su Yin and many other heads of foreign
countries and public figures. The restaurant has gained
great commendation in past years.
Pan Xi food has always taken part in national cooking
competitions and has won several gold medals. In addition,
Pan Xi food took part in the Luxemburg International Cooking
Competition and the International Olympics Cooking Competition,
and won the gold medal and silver medal.
In 1996, Pan Xi Restaurant was
given
the title of Chinese Old Brand.
In 1997, Pan Xi Restaurant
was evaluated as
national special
grade restaurant.
In 1998, Pan Xi Restaurant
was praised as
Guangzhou Famous Brand.
